Human Emotions into Technology Communication

In the year 2020, it is not unusual for humans to take forms of communication other than direct in-person communication. Nearly all humans now intertwine their communication with other humans through technology, especially now, during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is believed that there is a lot of meaning lost in technology related communication, however, this is believed not because texting is truly lack-luster, but because it is almost completely different than that of in-person speech. Unlike in-person communication, texting does not allow the use of tones, but over the years of using text-based communication, we have devised our own way of expression through text. In text, we use acronyms like “lol” and faces like “xD”. These all have their own unique ways of expression. For example, “lol”, by itself can show interest in a subject, while “LOL” in all capitalizations can express true laughter or doubt. Faces like “xD,” “:),” “:/,” and even “;)” can express intentions even without prior familiarity. If even texting clearly does not lack expression, it is certain that most technology related communication does not require revisions. Even in the future, communication through technology will not require adaptation. Why? In the same way we adapted to texting, we will adapt to new forms of technological communication. It is a natural instinct of humans to adapt new ways of expression no matter how communicate.
